Types of hosting solutions

A hosting solution includes saving and/or sharing specific web content on a server hosted by a website hosting vendor. There are different kinds of hosting services used for different goals, so let's have a look at them. In that way, you can elect what you need, based on whether you'd like to establish a web page, e-mail aliases, or to share files with chums and colleagues.

- File hosting: a solution supplied by some providers, which allows you to share huge files. These could be disk images, films, audio files, archived documents, etc. This service is also known as file storage, and its sole function is to share files, since it does not support site uploading. As soon as the files are uploaded, you will either get a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to see a register of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to see .html or .php website files in your web browser. Free-of-cost file hosting packages are often supported by exhibiting advertisements next to the download links, while a timer obliges you to await a certain span of time to view them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you purchase a paid file hosting account, there are no limitations as to how many files you can upload/download instantly, and also there is no restriction when it comes to the download speed or the file size.

Nowadays, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting corporations, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more voguish "cloud hosting". This is an entirely incongruous interpretation of the actual denotation of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting system would apportion the load between different hosts of web servers in a cluster, which are devoted to serving miscellaneous web space hosting services (electronic mail, disk space, stats, DNS, databases, hosting CP, and so on.) So, the file hosting solution is only a brand of a data storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: similar to file hosting; specific distributors offer a hosting solution for images solely. This hosting kind is appropriate if you wish to share a vast quantity of pictures with mates or partners since the service is usually free. You will receive a randomly generated link for every image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file hosting solution, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the service cannot be used for sites.

- E-mail hosting: a service dedicated to handling your e-mail addresses. Some companies offer web page hosting solutions for websites, but do not supply an email hosting service. If you would like to own a mail address with your domain name but do not wish to run a site, then the email hosting solution is what you want. You can open email mailbox accounts and administer them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The e-mail hosting solution includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this solution allows you to upload and share video clips. You can either share a link to a particular video clip, or you can embed the video file in your web site that is hosted elsewhere. The advantage of utilizing this method instead of uploading the video file in a hosting account is that the video file creates a certain amount of central processing unit load, so with several video clips and a few hundred web page viewers, you may have difficulty with your web space hosting supplies. Embedding the video clip will enable you to utilize as many video files as you want to without hassling about system supplies.

- Web site hosting: this is the service that you require if you desire to own a web site. To some degree, it consists of all of the aforementioned hosting types since, along with your websites, you can also host pictures and files, you can set up databases and email address accounts, upload video clips, etc. At Eagleprohost.com, for example, you can explore web hosting and dedicated web hosting services that permit you to get all of the aforesaid services in one single location. There may be limitations depending on the kind of hosting solution that you've settled on - a free hosting package, a paid shared hosting package, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your webspace hosting account may be better or worse in comparison with the conventional email/file/video/image hosting packages that are intended for specific web content exclusively.
